Who knew science was so important to everyday life? Recently in Mr. Girod's class, we learned about cells, atoms, osmosis, diffusion, facilitated diffusion, equilibrium, endocytosis, and exocytosis. All of these are a part of life.
Atoms are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Atoms make up everything, though. Which brings me to my next point.
Cells are made of atoms. Cells make up people, plants, and many other forms of matter.
Diffusion is when molecules of a certain substance try to spread out in a room or a space.
Osmosis is the diffusion of water. It makes sure that in water cells there are the same amount of water molecules as in the water. Confusing, I know but it happens.
Facilitated diffusion is when the cell membrane has larger holes in it to allow proteins and other helpful substances enter the cell.
Equilibrium is what diffusion and osmosis want to reach. It is when the molecules of a substance have spread equally throughout a space.
Endocytosis is when good things such as proteins enter the cell. Exocytosis is when things such as waste products leave the cell.
I still can't believe I learned all of this in science class!!
